San Miguel de Allende is an artists' colony and has been
preserved since 1927 by the Mexican government. This
500 year old city is a mountain "Shangri-La." Well
over 10,000 Americans make this their second home. It is a
quaint mountain city with cobblestone streets, bullfight
arenas, jazz clubs and gourmet restaurants.
weather is delightful with the temperature in the daytime
reaching only into the 70s and 80s year-round. Art
galleries abound, and boutiques and shops with local crafts
are all within walking distance from your hotel. No hassles
here...prices are a bargain!
in the U.S. are hot, but not in San Miguel - we were happy
to have the fireplace lit every morning by the maid. The
20th century has not yet reached this mountain Shangri-la
and neither have the U.S. prices.
